Total Security Services International, Inc. conducts an Emergency Preparedness Multi-Modal Tabletop Training Exercise

For Immediate Release:

Silver Spring, MD—July 24, 2009—Total Security Services International, Inc. (TSSI) conducted a multi-modal, tabletop training exercise designed to prepare organizations for response to a terrorist attack consisting of multiple, near-simultaneous events. For the exercise, TSSI assembled a team of top-notch counter terrorism and disaster response experts such as, former Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security for the state of Delaware, Dave Mitchell; former Director of Preparedness for the Red Cross, Dr. Darlene Sparks Washington; and renowned anti-terrorism expert Jeff Beatty (http://www.tssi-inc.com/leadership.php). High-level representatives from many agencies were in attendance today at the TSSI headquarters for this unprecedented event.

TSSI President & CEO, Don L. Rondeau explains, “Every community should be prepared for the possibility of a man-made or natural disaster and we believe exercises such as this one assist in elevating preparedness at all levels”. We are proud to offer our support to those who are charged with the difficult mission of protecting us during times of crisis”. The tabletop exercise played upon three possible terrorist attack scenarios in a metropolitan area:

• An attack on a passenger ferry in a municipal harbor;
• A HAZMAT fuel tanker exploding into an office building; and
• A bus filled with ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) attacking a tunnel system.

Rondeau acknowledges that federal, state and local officials discreetly participated in a well received exercise led by well know subject matter experts: “The majority of my executive staff have been appointed by Presidents, Governors or served as leaders in our armed forces. We know what a disaster looks like.”

The scenarios involved multiple domains and were the appropriate situations for those involved in crisis management or civic leadership in trucking, emerging threats, mass transit, law enforcement, critical infrastructure, ports, HAZMAT, and cargo security. The exercise showed how these domains are interconnected and how the response to these scenarios requires coordinated efforts by first responders, emergency managers, law enforcement personnel and community leaders. Excerpts from the exercise can be viewed on the Homeland Security Television Channel Web site at http://www.hstvchannel.com/Industry-Solutions2/TSSI.html
