Dr. Darlene Sparks Washington is a seasoned disaster preparedness thought-leader with expertise in effective crisis management communications and nearly 20 years of service at the American Red Cross. Most recently serving as Director of Preparedness at Red Cross National Headquarters, Dr. Sparks Washington was responsible for leading, managing and administering the organization’s national disaster preparedness efforts, including coordinating with local Red Cross chapters to deliver disaster education programs to 5 million people each year.
Her career also includes managing enterprise-wide efforts for pandemic flu planning and preparedness, working with corporate business units to identify and address education, service delivery and continuity of operations parameters and plans.
